AN OASIS FOR YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE MIDST OF WAYA TOWNSHIP
A KINDERGARTEN
FOR WAYA
A kindergarten concept that recognizes and acknowledges preschool children for their unique characteristics, needs, and desires, nurturing them as valuable individuals.
Why und how?
Infants in the Zambian context
In Zambian culture, children are considered full members of the extended family community at the age of 6. Until then, caregivers or families usually do not have a specific role in educating and nurturing their children. Toddlers often tag along with older children and roam largely unsupervised through the neighborhood. Active early education and kindergarten programs are not common in families from the impoverished areas in Zambia. In the vicinity of our Life Trust School Waya, there are only a few privately-run kindergartens, which are financially out of reach for most families.
the Life Trust Kindergarten
With the Life Trust Kindergarten, our goal is to provide a nurturing, stimulating, and safe environment for children aged 3-6 years from the impoverished Waya compound, where they can develop according to their age and personality. We envision creating a safe haven where playful learning is possible. Through age-appropriate education, we aim to positively influence their development and prepare them for school life.
We prioritize a structured daily routine, individualized support, early bilingual language education in English and the local tribal language Bemba, the development of social skills, and instilling Christian values. Above all, we aim to convey love and security to the children.
Sponsoring a Kindergarten pupil
We have recently purchased a plot of land right next to our school in Waya. Here, we are starting to build a lovingly designed kindergarten building with space for beautiful classrooms, educationally valuable materials, and a large playground. It will be a place where the children of Waya can feel comfortable, discover and express their creativity, and realize their worth in a safe environment.
