On the Life Trust Empowerment Campus, located right next to our school in Waya Compound, we are developing innovative vocational training concepts in the fields of tailoring and agriculture. Here, we train school graduates in courses and employees ‚on the job‘.

Empowerment Projects
Tailoring & Design
A major problem in Zambia is the high unemployment rate. Even after receiving a good education, many have few opportunities to find employment. People from impoverished areas face particularly limited chances, as access to education and job opportunities is scarce.
With our Empowerment Program, we aim to train young men and women in the art of tailoring. With the skills they acquire, they can independently sell handmade clothing. We want to support them in taking their first steps towards independence, which will also strengthen their self-esteem and sense of responsibility.
At the same time, we are building our own fashion label through the Empowerment Design Studio. This allows us not only to tell their stories through creativity but also gives them the opportunity to support their families through stable employment.
Women
are currently fully employed at the Empowerment Design Studio
Farming
Most of the families of our sponsored children live in the impoverished neighborhoods of Kabwe and are subsistence farmers. They often cultivate a small plot of land near their homes. However, many lack the necessary know-how, which means their hard work in the field does not yield good results.
We aim to teach school graduates methods for productive agriculture. They will acquire skills to sustainably improve the management of their own gardens or larger fields. This includes techniques such as drip irrigation, composting, and eco-friendly pest control, among others. Currently, we are training several staff members, experimenting with different approaches, working on demonstration gardens, and developing a curriculum for an agricultural vocational training program.
