Handling of personal data via email and contact forms

You can visit our website without providing personal information. To the extent that personal data (such as name, address, email address, etc.) is collected on our pages, this is done, as far as possible, on a voluntary basis. The basis for handling personal data is Chapter 2 (§§ 6-12) of the Data Protection Ordinance of the Mülheimer Verband Freikirchlich-Evangelischer Gemeinden e.V. (MV-DSO).

Your data will not be disclosed to third parties without your express consent. If a contractual relationship is to be established, modified, or if you make an inquiry to us, we collect and use personal data from you to the extent necessary for these purposes (inventory data). We collect, process, and use personal data only to the extent necessary to enable you to use the website (usage data). All personal data is stored only for as long as is necessary for the stated purpose (processing of your request or execution of a contract). Tax and commercial retention periods are taken into account here.

Newsletter functions

By voluntarily entering your email address in our newsletter and confirming it via the double opt-in procedure, you consent to receive our email newsletter. You can object to the use of your email address for this purpose at any time, without incurring other than the transmission costs according to the basic rates. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time. Each email contains an “unsubscribe” link. Providing an email address is sufficient to receive the newsletter. Additional voluntary information is only used to personalize the newsletter.

We use Mailjet as newsletter software. Your data will be transmitted to Mailjet GmbH. Mailjet is prohibited from selling your data and using it for purposes other than sending newsletters. Further information can be found here: https://www.mailjet.com/privacy-policy/

Comment functions

We only collect personal data in the context of publishing content or commenting on an article or post to the extent that you provide it. When you publish a comment, the email address you provide is stored but not published. Your name will be published if you have not written under a pseudonym.

Commenting via social networks

When you use the commenting and forwarding functions to social networks (such as Twitter or Facebook) offered on our website, visitor data is collected by these networks, the transmission, processing, storage, and use of which we have no influence on. You can avoid this by not using these functions.

To protect your data, we use the “Shariff” solution for implementation. This means that these buttons on the website are only integrated as graphics containing a link to the respective website of the button provider. By clicking on the graphic, you will be redirected to the services of the respective providers. Only then will your data be sent to the respective providers. If you do not click on the graphic, there will be no exchange between you and the providers of the social media buttons. Information about the collection and use of your data in social networks can be found in the respective terms of use of the providers.

We have integrated the social media buttons of the following companies on our website:

Facebook Inc. (1601 S. California Ave – Palo Alto – CA 94304 – USA) Instagram Inc. (1601 Willow Road, Menlo Park, CA, 94025, USA) YouTube LLC. (901 Cherry Avenue, San Bruno, CA 94066, USA.)

Use of font libraries (Google Webfonts)

To display our content correctly and graphically appealing across browsers, we use font libraries from Google (Google Webfonts https://fonts.google.com/). Google Webfonts are transferred to the cache of your browser to avoid multiple loading. If your browser does not support Google Webfonts or prevents access, content will be displayed in a standard font. Calling up font libraries automatically establishes a connection to the operator of the library. In theory, it is possible – but currently unclear if and for what purposes – that operators of such libraries collect data. The privacy policy of the library operator Google can be found here: www.google.com/policies/privacy

Use of Adobe Typekit

We use Adobe Typekit for the visual design of our website. Typekit is a service of Adobe Systems Software Ireland Ltd. that gives us access to a font library. To integrate the fonts we use, your browser must establish a connection to a server of Adobe in the USA and download the font required for our website. Adobe receives information that our website was accessed from your IP address. Further information about Adobe Typekit can be found in Adobe’s privacy policy, which you can access here: www.adobe.com/privacy/typekit.html

Embedded YouTube videos

We embed YouTube videos on some of our web pages. The operator of the corresponding plugins is “YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA”. When you visit a page with the YouTube plugin, a connection to YouTube’s servers is established. YouTube is informed which pages you visit. If you are logged into your YouTube account, YouTube can assign your surfing behavior directly to you. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account beforehand.

When a YouTube video is started, the provider uses cookies to collect information about user behavior. If you have deactivated the storage of cookies for the Google Ad program, you will not have to expect such cookies when watching YouTube videos. However, YouTube also stores non-personal usage information in other cookies. If you want to prevent this, you must block the storage of cookies in your browser.

Further information on data protection at “Youtube” can be found in the provider’s privacy policy at: www.google.com/policies/privacy

Server log files

Like all web servers, our internet server maintains a log file (so-called “server log files”). When you visit our website, we collect the following data, which is technically necessary for us to display the website:

-Our visited website -Date and time of access -Amount of data sent in bytes -Source/reference from which you accessed the page -Used browser -Operating system used -Used IP address (if applicable: in anonymized form)

The processing is carried out in accordance with §7 MV-DSO (cf. Art. 6 (1) lit. f DSGVO) on the basis of our legitimate interest in improving system security and stability, functionality, and ensuring comfortable use of our website, as well as for other administrative purposes. Data will not be passed on or otherwise used. In no case do we use the data collected to draw conclusions about your person. However, we reserve the right to subsequently check the server log files if there are concrete indications of illegal use.

Cookies

We do not use cookies on our site as far as possible. However, some of our services require us to use cookies.

Cookies are small files that your browser automatically creates and that are stored on your device (laptop, tablet, smartphone, etc.) when you visit our site. Cookies do not harm your device, do not contain viruses, trojans, or other malware. The cookie stores information that results in each case in conjunction with the specific device used. However, this does not mean that we immediately become aware of your identity. The use of cookies serves, on the one hand, to make the use of our offer more pleasant for you. For example, we use so-called session cookies to recognize that you have already visited individual pages of our website. These are automatically deleted after leaving our site. We also use temporary cookies to optimize user-friendliness, which are stored on your end device for a certain specified period. Most browsers are set to accept cookies by default. However, you can configure your browser to reject cookies or to request confirmation from you beforehand. However, if you reject cookies, this may result in some of our services not functioning properly for you.

SSL encryption

We use SSL transport encryption on this site. This is used, among other things, to protect confidential content, such as inquiries to us. You can recognize that the connection is actually encrypted by the address line of your browser, which starts with “https://”.

Our social media presence

Data processing by social networks

We maintain publicly accessible profiles on social networks. You can find the social networks we use in detail below. Social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, etc. can usually extensively analyze your user behavior when you visit their website or a website with integrated social media content (e.g., like buttons or advertising banners). Visiting our social media presences triggers numerous data processing operations relevant to data protection. In detail:

If you are logged into your social media account and visit our social media presence, the operator of the social media portal can assign this visit to your user account. Your personal data may also be collected if you are not logged in or do not have an account with the respective social media portal. This data collection may occur, for example, through cookies that are stored on your end device or by recording your IP address.

With the help of the data collected in this way, the operators of the social media portals can create user profiles in which your preferences and interests are stored. In this way, interest-based advertising can be displayed to you inside and outside the respective social media presence. If you have an account with the respective social network, interest-based advertising can be displayed on all devices on which you are logged in or were logged in.

Please note that we cannot comprehensively trace all processing processes on the social media portals. Depending on the provider, further processing operations may therefore be carried out by the operators of the social media portals. For details, please refer directly to the terms of use and privacy policies of the respective social media portals.

Legal basis

Our social media presences are intended to ensure the most comprehensive presence on the Internet. This is a legitimate interest within the meaning of § 7 (1) lit. f MV-DSO (see also Art. 6 (1) lit. f DSGVO). The analysis processes initiated by the social networks may be based on different legal bases, which the operators of the social networks must specify (e.g., consent within the meaning of § 7 (1) lit. a MV-DSO (see also Art. 6 (1) lit. a DSGVO)).

Controller and assertion of rights

If you visit one of our social media presences (e.g., Facebook), we are jointly responsible with the operator of the social media platform for the data processing operations triggered during this visit. You can assert your rights (information, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability, and complaint) against us and the operator of the respective social media portal (e.g., Facebook).

Please note that despite the shared responsibility with the operators of the social media portals, we do not have full influence on the data processing operations of the social media portals. Our possibilities are largely based on the company policy of the respective provider.

Storage duration

The data directly collected by us via the social media presence will be deleted from our systems as soon as the purpose for their storage no longer applies, you request us to delete them, you revoke your consent to their storage, or the purpose for their storage no longer applies. Stored cookies remain on your end device until you delete them. Mandatory legal provisions – in particular retention periods – remain unaffected.

We have no influence on the storage period of your data, which is stored by the operators of the social networks for their own purposes. For details, please refer directly to the operators of the social networks (e.g., in their privacy policy, see below).
